About BuildCostMate

Who We Are

BuildCostMate is a free, independent set of construction material calculators built for anyone estimating a building project — homeowners planning a small renovation, DIY builders, site engineers, and contractors preparing quick quantity take-offs. It's a solo-run project, not a construction company, engineering firm, or materials supplier.

Why This Site Exists

Estimating construction materials by hand means juggling formulas, unit conversions, and mix ratios that most people don't use often enough to remember confidently — how many bricks fill a given wall, how much cement and sand a mortar ratio actually needs once wastage and dry-volume factors are accounted for, or how to convert between feet, meters, and the odd extra units (like Sankra for sand) still used on many job sites. BuildCostMate exists to take that arithmetic off your plate so you can double-check a supplier's quote, plan a purchase, or sanity-check a quick estimate in under a minute.

What We Offer

How the Calculators Work

Every calculator runs standard quantity-surveying formulas — the same underlying methods used in manual construction estimating — rather than a black-box guess. Where a calculator makes an assumption (a dry-volume factor for mortar, a default wastage percentage, a standard brick size), we try to say so directly in the results or the page's FAQ so you know what's built in and what you should adjust for your own project.

Every result is an estimate. Material needs vary with site conditions, workmanship, and local practice, so always leave a margin and confirm quantities with your contractor or supplier before ordering.

Supported Currencies & Units

BuildCostMate supports USD, PKR, and INR, and both metric (meters, cm, mm, m³) and imperial (feet, inches, ft³) units — built for a global audience rather than any single country.
